MURRYSVILLE POKEMON LEAGUE

When: Saturday, March 23, 2019 - 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library

Come to the continuing re-launch of the Murrysville Pokémon League on Saturday, March 23 from 1:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. Bring your Pokémon Trading Cards to play and trade. If you're new to the game, come ready to learn. Your friends are welcome and admission is free. For more information, contact the Library at 724-327-1102 or email carol.siefken@wlnonline.org.

This is a drop-in program and no registration is required.

Come and hang out at the Library on Monday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This unstructured drop-in play time offers both kids and grown-ups an opportunity to mingle with others and make new friends. A few early learning items will be available to encourage imaginative play. Feel free to bring coffee for you, snacks for your child, and toys to share. Expand your social network and have fun too!

No registration is required for this drop-in program.

YARNED AND DANGEROUS
The fiber artists formerly known as Knit-cro Maniacs

When: Monday, March 25, 2019 - 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library

We welcome a new group of crafters, meeting twice a month. Join them on Monday evenings to work on your favorite knitting and/or crocheting project. No registration is necessary and the meeting is open to the public.

The tentative schedule for the next few months: March 25, April 8 and April 22, May 6 and May 20, June 10 and June 24, July 8 and July 22, and August 5 and August 19.

Toddler Time is designed for children who are 2 1/2 to 3 years of age.The children are to be accompanied by an adult. Each forty-minute session includes age-appropriate stories and a theme-related craft for each child and adult to make together.

ART TALK
Meet Tirzah Mason, local artist and member of the East Suburban Artists League

When: Tuesday, March 26, 2019 - 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library

Meet artist Tirzah Mason who will be on hand March 26 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss her work which will be on display through the end of March at Murrysville Community Library. She uses a variety of mediums, but will focus her Art Talk on acrylic ink.

Tirzah Mason, Co-President of East Suburban Artists League (ESAL), is pleased to present a group of works focusing on acrylic and acrylic inks on paper. Her process is to begin by making marks and allowing the medium to take the art where it wants to go. Her playful approach to art means "mistakes" are just new opportunities. Tirzah lives with her husband in Trafford, is the mother of two grown children, and has three grandchildren, as well as two feline companions. Tirzah works in a variety of media. AAUW / Murrysville Branch - 2019 GREAT DECISIONS DISCUSSION GROUP
Open to the Public -Eight consecutive Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m.

When: Friday, March 29, 2019 - 9:30 a.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library Conference Room

Great Decisions is the name shared by a program and a publication of the Foreign Policy Association. Published annually, the Great Decisions Briefing Book highlights eight of the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing Americans. Great Decisions provides background information, current data, and policy options for each of the eight issues and serves as the focal text for discussion groups. Begun in 1954, the Great Decisions Discussion Program is designed to encourage debate and discussion of the important global issues of our time. Interested AAUW members meet Friday mornings in the months of February, March and April to discuss one of the topics in the Great Decisions Briefing Book. The discussions are lead by a volunteer leader who brings additional information on the chosen topic. The group will meet on eight successive Friday mornings: February 22, March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 April 5 and 12.

2019 Programming Topics:
March 29 - Cyber conflicts and geopolitics
April 5 - State of the State Department and diplomacy
April 12 - The rise of populism in Europe

The selection for this One Book/One Community event is The Space Barons: Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and the Quest to Colonize the Cosmos by Christian Davenport. The Space Barons is the story of a group of billionaire entrepreneurs who are pouring their fortunes into the epic resurrection of the American space program. Nearly a half-century after Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, these Space Barons (most notably Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, along with Richard Branson and Paul Allen) are using Silicon Valley-style innovation to dramatically lower the cost of space travel, and send humans even further than NASA has gone. These entrepreneurs have founded some of the biggest brands in the world (Amazon, Microsoft, Virgin, Tesla, PayPal) and upended industry after industry. Now they are pursuing the biggest disruption of all: space.

Dog Reading Pals
What? Dogs can't read! Of course they can't, but they are great listeners.

Children are invited to read aloud to therapy dogs on the second Friday of each month from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Our therapy dogs and their owners encourage children to read at their own pace in a relaxed and non-judgmental environment.
