APPLEBEE'S DINING TO DONATE PROGRAM
JOIN US AT MURRYSVILLE APPLEBEE'S FOR OUR FUNDRAISER

When: Tuesday, February 27, 2018 - 11:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m.
Where: 4920 William Penn Highway, Murrysville

Applebee's Dining to Donate Program allows everyone to "Enjoy A Meal That's Filling and Fulfilling" by eating in or trying their Carside to Go service. Applebee's will donate to the Library 15% of total sales to Murrysville Community Library supporters on February 27, 2018.

Join us at Applebee's-Murrysville and present the flyer, available at the library or through our Constant Contact email, to your server or Carside to Go Specalist. You can also show the flyer on your smartphone.

AAUW / Murrysville Branch - GREAT DECISIONS DISCUSSION GROUP
Open to the Public - Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m.

When: Friday, March 2, 2018 - 9:30 a.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library Conference Room

Great Decisions is the name shared by a program and a publication of the Foreign Policy Association. Published annually, the Great Decisions Briefing Book highlights eight of the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing Americans. Great Decisions provides background information, current data, and policy options for each of the eight issues and serves as the focal text for discussion groups. Begun in 1954, the Great Decisions Discussion Program is designed to encourage debate and discussion of the important global issues of our time. Interested AAUW members meet Friday mornings in the months of February, March and April to discuss one of the topics in the Great Decisions Briefing Book. The discussions are lead by a volunteer leader who brings additional information on the chosen topic. The group will meet on eight successive Friday mornings: February 16, 23, March 2, 9, 16, 23, April 6 and 13.

CHAIR YOGA - A free class for adults

When: Monday, March 5, 2018 - 11:30 a.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library Conference Room

Chair Yoga (chair and standing work) is designed to strengthen and stretch the body. Students will learn how to use the breath to relax the mind and body. AAUW/Murrysville Community Library March Program
Developing Conceptualizations of Gender - Samuel Todd Allen

When: Thursday, March 8, 2018 - 9:30 a.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library Conference Room

The speaker will help those in attendance to unravel the contemporary world of self­ identification for sex, gender, and sexuality beyond ‘male’, ‘female’, ‘straight’ and ‘gay’. After helping the audience to understand the terminology and background of this contemporary development, the
discussion will take up some popular examples and concerns with regard to masculinity in American life.

This program is offered in cooperation with the Murrysville Community Library and is open to the public. No advanced registration is
required.

Dog Reading Pals

Where: The Library

What?  Dogs can't read!  Of course they can't, but they are great listeners.  Reading to dogs helps children read at their own pace.  Join us on Friday, March 9 and and take your turn reading to a dog pal.  This is a great way to encourage new readers!

2018 CHESS TOURNAMENT

When: Saturday, March 10, 2018 - 9:00 A.M.
Where: Murrysville Community Library

Youth in grades K to 8 are invited to compete in the 2018 Murrysville Community Library Chess Tournament on Saturday, March 10 to be held at the Library, 4130 Sardis Road.

The Junior Division is open to players in grades K to 4 (click here to register) and the

Senior Division is open for players in grades 5 to 8 (click here to register).

Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. Tournament play will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until rounds are completed. In order to complete first round pairings in advance, register online or call the library at 724-327-1102 by Thursday, March 8. Each player will receive a participation certificate. First, Second, and Third place winners in each division will be awarded trophies. Players are asked to bring a chess set, if possible. Assistance from chess books, computers, or any other source is not permitted during tournament play.

The First and Second place winners in each division will advance to the countywide finals sponsored by the Westmoreland Library Network on Saturday, April 7 at Scottdale Public Library in Scottdale, PA.

Pushing the Limits will not meet until March 13, 2018 The book chosen for March is The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver which can be read over January and February.

Toddler Time is designed for children who are no younger than two and one half, yet have not had their fourth birthday before the first class. The children are to be accompanied by an adult. Each forty-minute session includes age-appropriate stories and a theme-related craft for each child and adult to make together.
