Classical Encounters - April 9, 16, 23 and 30
Presented by the WSO Academy of Music in association with Murrysville Community Library

When: Monday, April 30, 2018 - 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Where: Murrysville Community Library Conference Room

Classical Encounters is a four-part program made possible through a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Murrysville, Export, and Delmont. This mini-music appreciation course is designed to introduce people to the world of classical music or to serve as a refresher course for those somewhat knowledgeable about classical music. It explores the four basic periods of classical music – Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary. Emphasis is placed on recognizing the various style periods and learning terminologies that improve one’s knowledge and appreciation for what is happening in the music. The goal is to have the listener be more comfortable when listening to classical music.

The instructor is Morrie Brand, Director of the Westmoreland Symphony’s Academy of Music and Music Director of the Westmoreland Youth Symphony Orchestra Program. He is a former college music teacher and professional musician with St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and is now an active music teacher and composer. He served as Managing Director of the WSO from 2000 until 2017.

Click here to register or contact the Murrysville Community Library at 724-327-1102. Registration includes all four sessions
